Pentecost Sunday! #
Sunday, May 27 is a happy day! Welcome Holy Spirit! On this day we celebrate Holy Comforter's "birthday"--115 years of Episcopal Ministry in the Angleton community. Also this year we say a fond good-bye to our music director/organist, Daniel Russell, who is moving to Nashville. A potluck luncheon will follow the 10:30 service. Join us for a great morning of worship & joy!

History & nature buffs, take note!! #
Our sister church, St. Mary's West Columbia, stewards the Nash Prairie Preserve, the only pristine prairie on the Gulf Coast. On Sunday, May 6 from 1-5 p.m., the Prairie will be open for a "tourist day." Learn the fascinating history of the prairie and the settlement of Texas' Gulf Coast. Holy Comforter and St. Timothy's, Lake Jackson, welcome author Janet Davis to a celebration of her new book for women: My Own Worst Enemy: How to Stop Holding Yourself Back! Janet will join us at the HC Parish House at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21. All women in the community are invited!

On April 6,Good Friday,we will walk with Jesus through his passion. Stations of the Cross at Noon; Solemn Service at 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 8 is Easter Sunday! Breakfast at 9:30; Parish photo @ 10:20; Worship & Celebration @ 10:30; Easter egg hunt immediately following service. Alleluia, Christ is Risen!

Holy Week begins Sunday April 1 #
Palm Sunday is April 1, services at 8:30 & 10:30.
Maundy Thursday service is April 5 at 7 p.m. with Foot Washing, Holy Eucharist, and Stripping of the Altar. Good Friday services are at noon--stations of the cross--and 7 p.m.--solemn service. On Easter Sunday, join us for breakfast at 9:30 followed by one service of worship at 10:30.

Lenten Friday Fish Frys start Feb. 24! #
Every Friday during Lent we'll have yummy fish and all the trimmings. Tickets are $8/plate or 5 for $40. Buy at the door or in advance at the church office. You can dine in, take out, or drive thru! See you Friday!

Join us for yummy pancakes cooked by HC's Boy Scout Troop # 531. They'll serve from 5:30-6:30 in the parish hall. Bring a generous donation for "our" scouts!

"Souper" Bowl Sunday! #
February 5 is Super Bowl Sunday, but at HC it is "souper bowl" Sunday!
Bring a can of soup for the food pantry, a donation for the Rector's discretionary fund, AND soup or bread to share for a festive lunch! We'll have fun as well as help those in need in our community!

Join us at 9:30 a.m. for HC's Annual Meeting. We'll review the events of 2011 and look forward together to 2012! Also, this year's annual meeting includes a ministry fair to celebrate the various ministries of Holy Comforter!

This Sunday we celebrate the feast of Jesus' baptism with a service of Holy Baptism at the 10:30 service! We remember Jesus' baptism, as well as our own, as we renew our baptismal covenant at both services.

Merry Christmas! #
Celebrate the season with us on December 24 & 25! On Christmas Eve at 4:30, the HC Children will present the Christmas Story at the Family Service. At 10:30 p.m., we celebrate Christ's birth with a candlelight service.
On Christmas Day, we gather to rejoice at 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist is shared at each service. Merry Christmas to all!

Walton Donnie Hood, III Rest in Peace #
A memorial service for Don Hood, much beloved parishioner, educator, and friend will be Wednesday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Comforter. A luncheon, hosted by the Angleton High School Alumni Band, will follow immediately in the parish hall at First Presbyterian Church, just around the corner.

Advent begins Sunday, November 27! #
The season of Advent is one of expectation, hope, and joy! It is our counter-cultural opportunity to slow down and consider God's great love gift of Jesus Christ. On the first Sunday in Advent, we will think together about waiting expectantly. Our communion chant for the season encourages us: Wait for the Lord, whose day is near. Wait for the Lord, be strong, take heart.
