Sunday, October 16 #

Two big happenings this Sunday:  Leadership Elections & Gwen French Appreciation Day!   After each service we will vote to fill leadership positions. Nominees are Pam Baron, Allan Dinsmore, Kerry Payne (vestry); Jack Fleet (Endowment); Lori Hawkins (council).   After the after the late service, the Altar Guild will host a reception for Gwen who is moving to Huntsville.  She has served as Altar Guild director for many years and we will miss her greatly!  Please join us in saying Thank You!

Pet Blessing! #

Bring Fido & Fluffy to Holy Comforter's Prayer Garden on Sunday, October 9 at 5 p.m. for a blessing!  Don't forget to bring an offering of pet supplies, pet food, or a financial gift, all of which will go to the Brazoria County SPCA.

We all leave one, intentionally or otherwise!  Join us Sunday, October 2 at Noon for lunch and a Legacy Planning Seminar, led by Harvey Warren, Attorney-at-Law.  Learn the importance of having a will and designating your heirs. You can choose the legacy you will leave!

Parish House Ribbon Cutting! #

The community is invited to celebrate the opening of Holy Comforter's Parish House on Thursday, September 15 at 5:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting and reception. Our Parish House is home to church and school offices, and its parlor, dining room, and kitchen are available to the community to rent for receptions, showers, meetings, etc.

Labor Day Sunday, September 4, 2011 #

Work is a huge part of our lives!  Whether we work at a paying job, work at home, or both, the work we do and the way we do it expresses our calling as children of God.  On Labor Day Sunday, bring a symbol of your work to lay at the altar as we offer our work to God for blessing!

Back to School Blessing & BBQ! #

On Sunday, August 21 we will bless our educators and students at the 10:30 service, after which we'll enjoy the best BBQ in Texas!  Yum!  Kids will have water games outside, so bring their swim suits, towels, and a lawn chair!

Anglican Covenant Class continues.... #

We have two more sessions, Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m., July 27 and August 3.  Dianne Kilgus and George Zwicker are facilitating this curriculum prepared by the Diocese of Texas to help us understand what's going on in the "larger church."   All are welcome to meet with us at the Parish House!

Vacation Bible School.... #

...starts this Sunday evening, July 17 from 6-8 p.m.!  Favorite Stories from the New Testament  is for ages 3 through 3rd grade.  VBS continues each night through Thursday, July 21.   Discover Godly Play, join us for stories, games, crafts, and music!

Pentecost! #

Sunday, June 12, is Pentecost Sunday, a day of celebration!  We rejoice in the Holy Spirit and we celebrate the 114th birthday of Holy Comforter in one service (10:30) followed by a potluck luncheon.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit....Acts 2:4

A Huge Thank You... #

...to Head of School, Lori Logsdon, who is leaving Holy Comforter to pursue other career opportunities.   She served Holy Comforter School first as a teacher, then as Head of School, and in each position has done a magnificent job!   We are sad to see her go, but wish her every blessing!  We'll say "Thank You" at a Come & Go reception on Tuesday, May 31, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Please join us!

Welcome Canon John Newton #

Special guest on Sunday, May 1 is the Rev. Canon John Newton, newly appointed Canon for Life Long Christian Formation in the Diocese of Texas.  John will preach at both services and will speak at 9:30  Coffeehouse Theology!

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!  Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 24 with breakfast at 9:30 and one glorious worship service at 10:30!  The Lord is Risen, Indeed!  Alleluia!

Sunday, April 17: Palm Sunday.  Liturgy of the Palms & Holy Eucharist at 8:30 and at 10:30.

Maundy Thursday, April 21: 7 p.m. Holy Eucharist, Foot Washing, Stripping of the Altar, Prayer Vigil.

Good Friday, April 22: Noon & 7 p.m. Solemn Service; Stations of the Cross.

Easter Sunday!  April 24:  Alleluia, Christ is Risen!  Resurrection Eucharist and Holy Baptism at 10:30 a.m. (one service only) Beakfast at 9:30.

April 8-10: Big Weekend! #

Friday, April 8, its the penultimate HC fish fry!  Eat in/take out, 5-7pm!    Saturday, April 9, Holy Comforter School's Spring Picnic/Festival is at Westside Elementary from 11:30-2!  Sunday, April 10: church services as usual, then "Kidding Around"...a chance to see and play with the many baby kids at the Seco Creek Goat Farm, 2-4 p.m. http://secocreek.com/

Let Your Life Speak....Transformation #

Wednesday, March 30 is HC's final Lenten Program in the series "Let Your Life Speak," so join us for Soup & Bread at 5:30 and the program at 6:30.  Guest speaker is Lisa Fitzpatrick, student at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin and former HC member.  She will share her story of transformation and invite us to consider our own!

Friday Fish Frys! #

This Friday and each Friday during Lent, Holy Comforter serves up delicious fish dinners including: fish, beans, cole slaw, french fries, hush puppies, dessert, and tea for 7.50 per plate!  Eat with us in the parish hall or take it home with you!  Yum!
