Often God speaks to us through the events of our lives; if we pay attention, we will hear the voice of God.   Join us this Wednesday, March 16 at 5:30 for a Soup & Bread Supper, after which our guest Dr. Julie Fowler will share her life-changing experience of listening to life, and hearing God within it.

Shrove Tuesday is March 8 and  Boy Scout Troop 531 is cookin' up some delicious pancakes!   Join us from 5:30- 6:30 for supper and celebration in the parish hall!  Supper donations go to the boy scouts.

Souper Bowl Sunday! #

Join us for a lunch of hearty soup & bread on February 6, right after the late service.  Sign up in the parish hall to bring soup or bread.  Also, bring canned soup for the Food Pantry and a donation for the Rector's Discretionary Fund!

Annual Parish Meeting #

On Sunday, January 23 at 9:30 (between services) Holy Comforter will gather in the parish hall for the annual parish meeting.  We will briefly review events of 2010 and look forward to 2011!   We will bid a grateful farewell to Vestry members who are cycling off and extend a warm welcome to newly elected vestry members.  The annual meeting is always a fun time of reflection and dreaming...won't you join us?

Thanks be to God! #

Join us on Sunday, November 21, at St. John Lutheran Church for Angleton's annual Community Thanksgiving Service & Celebration!  At 6 p.m. we will share a meal--St. John is providing the turkey and dressing, sides are potluck.  At 7 p.m. we will worship together. Holy Comforter's rector, Carol Petty will preach.  It will be a glorious time to thank God for the blessings graciously bestowed upon us!

Fall Festival of Faith 2010! #

The 8th Annual Fall Festival of Faith is Saturday, October 23, 11a.m.-3 p.m.  Children will enjoy face painting, pony rides, moon walk, etc., while grown-ups can bid on silent auction items and win some great raffle prizes!  A delicious bar-b-q plate with all the trimmings, plus dessert is $9.  We hope to see you there!

This Sunday, October 10, Holy Comforter welcomes Daniel Russell, our new music director!   Daniel is a second year Master's of Sacred Music student at the University of Houston and a grateful Episcopalian!  We are happy to welcome Daniel to our parish and look forward to his musical ministry with us.

Bring Fido & Fluffy to Seco Creek Goat Farm on Saturday, October 2 at 4 p.m. for a blessing of the pets!  Seco Creek Farm is located at 2619 County Road 45 in Angleton.  (Head East on CR 45 from Velasco/ for the sign; if you get to the correctional facility, you missed it!)

Bring a symbol or token of your work to place at the altar, as we offer our labor to God and ask for God's blessing.

Special Sunday! #

August 29 will be a special day at Holy Comforter!  At 9:30 we are honored to welcome Janet Davis who will lead our Coffeehouse Theology conversation.    Her newest book Sacred Healing: MRIs, Marigolds, and Miracles has just been published, and she will share excerpts from that work.  Check it out at:  Janet will have copies with her, available for purchase.

At 10:30, we celebrate the Baptism, Confirmation, and Reaffirmation of Faith of 9 people.Bishop Rayford High, who has a special place in his heart for Holy Comforter, will be our celebrant.

After worship, we'll enjoy Texas' best BBQ in the parish hall.  Cooked by the men of HC (guys are welcome to help the cooks anytime on Saturday, from 8-4), the BBQ will be accompanied by the sides we all provide.  A special day, indeed!
